** The fourth series of The Secret Life of Us, in which Petra has a guest role, has been released on DVD and can be bought from stores such as Chaos (Australian customers only) and DVD Orchard. My own copy has just arrived and I haven't watched all episodes yet, but I will try and post screen captures as soon as possible. :-)

** For those who haven't heard yet, it has been announced that MDA (which unfortunately didn't win any AFI award) will return for a second series. I read that the ABC is negotiating with the actors to see if they're willing to stay on the show.

Anyway, Petra Yared's character is called Yolanda - apparently a rich and bitchy girl! I also read that the film was due to be released (in Australia) on October 31st, 2002.

4 July 2002: Hello! Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I just haven't been able to find pictures or major info these last few weeks. Basically, I only have two short announcements to make:
* The moderator of the Petra Yared Yahoo Club has recently written to Petra, and apparently she told him that MDA was to be aired in a month or so. Assuming she wrote this a few weeks ago, the show may start pretty soon! If you want to read what the moderator had to say about Petra's letter, just visit the club!
** Another very nice surprise in the guestbook: a message from Angus Grant, one of Petra's co-stars in MDA! Of course I can't be 100 % sure it's really him, but it sounds pretty genuine... :-)

10 June 2002: Here is some news: it seems that Petra Yared was involved in the making of a short animation film, Holding Your Breath, which was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival! Petra is officially credited as an 'actor', but I guess her contribution is of a more narrative kind... I'll be doing an episode a week for the next six months so I've deferred university while I settle in and may do one subject next semester if shooting isn't too frantic.

12 December 2001: The site has moved because it was using more than the amount of data transfer provided by Geocities, which made it impossible for certain visitors to access the page. I hope that the new location works fine.

17 November 2001: Just a short announcement: Sparky D has won the 2001 AFI Award for Best Screenplay in a Short Fiction Film (Kris Mrksa)! For more info about the Australian Film Institute Awards, go to http://www.afi.org.au.
11 November 2001: I added a new section with some quotations - no actual quotes by Petra Yared (yet? :-)), but comments from two actors she has worked with, i.e. Jeremy London and Carly Neemiah.
24 October 2001: GREAT NEWS! I know this sounds hard to believe, but I have just received a very nice message from Mrs. Shelley Yared, Petra's mother, who told me that the whole family visited the website and like it very much. So first of all, a big thanks to the Yared family for their wonderful support.
You will probably be interested to know that Mrs. Yared told me what her daughter has been doing lately. Here is the news we have all been waiting for:
* Right now, Petra is very busy working for uni, but she has just finished an episode of BeastMaster (series 3), in which she is playing a huntress, "a bit like Ralna returns", to use Mrs. Yared's own words! Links to several BeastMaster pages can be found on the links page.
** For U.S. fans: Petra is appearing in a Nokia ad which will come to America soon!
*** Beside being nominated for an AFI Award, Sparky D has also won several short film festivals. For more info, visit Maciek Wszelaki's homepage.
**** Petra's mother also confirmed that the messages left in the guestbook by Jeffrey Walker and Damian Walshe-Howling are indeed genuine. Petra and Damian are no longer together but remain very dear friends.
Moreover, Mrs. Yared added that Petra would try to find some material for this site when she is a little less busy. Isn't this fantastic? I hope you all share my enthusiasm, don't hesitate to let me know what you think!

I have not changed the background color, but if you guys really hate it, let me know . ** I have also added a complete (and much better) version of Stick With Me, the song interpreted by Nikki and Mike in the last episode of Sky Trackers. A BIG thanks to Yam for this wonderful sound capture! *** ... and for those of you who are interested in Mirror Mirror, I also created a website about Petra Yared's co-star on the show, Michala Banas.
6 October 2001: * I added a picture of Petra Yared and Damian Walshe-Howling which I found on a Blue Heelers site a while ago. The bad news is that this is the last picture of Petra I had in store! I have no idea where I can find other photos, I can't possibly write to Petra again to ask for pictures or she'll think I'm a wacko or a maniac (or both), so right now I don't know when (or if) I will be able to add other pictures. If you have a suggestion concerning this matter, please let me know.

25 April 2001: I have received Petra Yared’s reply to my second letter, this means that the interview I have been hoping for is finally online. So if you want to find out more about her debuts, her career, her studies and more, this is your chance! A big thanks to Petra for answering these questions! I should also thank whoever from Brazil reminded Petra (directly or indirectly?) of my letter, which had apparently ended up in a pile of old bills... true story by the way. :-)

18 January 2001: Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I have been (still am) busy with my exams. But since today is a special day (Petra Yared is turning 22), I thought it would almost be a blasphemy not to mention it on this site! So... first of all: let’s all wish her a happy birthday! As far as the update itself is concerned, I added a picture from Journey to the Center of the Earth that was kindly sent to me by Kris (thanks a lot!), and a sound file from Sky Trackers (1994), which is actually part of a song interpreted by Nikki and Mike in the last episode. It can be found on the 'sounds' page. A special thanks to the ACTF for letting me use this file.

Except for these links, there is nothing new on the page, but I just wanted to wish you all a happy new year!!! :-)
21 December 2000: I added a picture from Sky Trackers (1994). It is ridiculously small, but you can view it at the bottom of the Sky Trackers pictures page. More interesting: I found a site where you can view a short clip from the show! I suggest you pick the full preview version, and don't lose your patience if you have to load the video 15 times before getting the complete thing... It is a great dramatic scene! Anyway, it can be found on the Screen Exchange Page.
4 December 2000: I've added a third sound file from Neighbours (1996). It is a dialogue between Georgia (Petra) and Phil (Ian Rawlings). I believe both actors are very good in this scene (but isn't Petra always excellent, huh?).

14 November 2000: Good news and bad news... the bad news first: the people from Geocities have decided to add new guestbooks (don't ask me why), and I was forced to replace the old guestbook by a new one.
